Roland Laffitte is an independent researcher and essayist, president of the SELEFA (in english: Society for French and Arabic Lexicographic and Etymological Studies). He has worked in particular on the history of our celestial representations from Mesopotamia to the present day, via Greece and the Arabs. He wrote on this subject many articles, both academic and educational, and several books on the contribution of Arab uranography, among which: Le ciel des Arabes [The Sky of the Arabs], 2012, and Nommer les étoiles : 500 noms hérités des Arabes [Naming the Stars: 500 Names Inherited from the Arabs], 2024, and he runs the website www.uranos.fr.
