Roberta Sparvoli is a Full Professor at the University of Rome Tor Vergata in Rome, Italy. She also serves
as the Director of the Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) at the Rome Tor Vergata
Structure.
Roberta Sparvoli has dedicated her scientific career to researching antimatter and dark matter signals,
as well as studying the nuclear and isotopic components of cosmic rays across a wide energy range. Her
experiments have been conducted using stratospheric balloons, satellites, and on board the MIR and
ISS Space Stations. Among her most significant contributions is her involvement in the PAMELA mission,
which orbited on a Russian satellite from 2006 to 2016. This mission revolutionized cosmic ray physics
by providing innovative data on antimatter and primary particle fluxes.
Currently, Roberta Sparvoli is engaged in the CSES/LIMADOU mission, conducted on board a Chinese
satellite. This mission aims to study variations in electromagnetic fields and particle flows around the
Earth in connection with space weather events or seismic activities. The first mission began in February
2018 and is still ongoing, while the second mission is set to start in 2025.
In addition to her research, Roberta Sparvoli teaches General Physics and Astroparticle Physics courses
at the Physics Department of the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
